JK Rowling’s Fantastic Beast Series

In 2018, J. K. Rowling and David Yates released the fantasy film Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. The ninth installment in the Wizarding World series overall, it is the second Fantastic Beasts film.

The story takes place in 1927 and centers on Newt Scamander and Albus Dumbledore as they strive to defeat the evil wizard Gellert Grindelwald while dealing with fresh dangers in a more fractured wizarding community.

In October 2014, a second Fantastic Beasts movie was announced, and Rowling revealed she had finished the writing in July 2016. Depp’s casting in November 2016 drew significant criticism because of the allegations of domestic violence leveled against him. The law was ratified in April 2017. At Warner Bros. Studios, Leavesden in England, principal photography commenced in July 2017. Additionally, London, Switzerland, and Paris were used for filming, which was completed in December 2017.

Its global box office revenue of $654.9 million made it the tenth-highest-grossing movie of 2018. When it was first released, it had the lowest box office earnings of the whole Wizarding World series, a record it held until the 2022 release of Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore. 

The movie’s 15 July 2022 release date was moved from its original 12 November 2021 date. Mads Mikkelsen was announced in November 2020 as having been chosen to play the part of Grindelwald in favor of Johnny Depp.

David Yates acknowledged that Rowling had written the second movie’s screenplay and had ideas for the third in July 2016. Rowling said that the series would consist of five movies in October 2016. 

Reasons To Watch Fantastic Beast Series 

People should see the Fantastic Beasts series because it is genuinely underestimated. As a lover of the wizarding world, you must have adored the first movie and you will undoubtedly enjoy this one as well. The visually stunning film simply proves that J.K. Rowling still has it in her to create gorgeous and distinctive worlds you wish you could live in.

The performances were undoubtedly this movie’s strongest feature. With his case of the beasties, Eddie Redmayne makes a likable protagonist character who is incredibly sympathetic to members of our contemporary generation. The casting of Jude Law as the youthful Albus Dumbledore was quite likely the best decision made for the entire Harry Potter series. More than prior depictions of the character, he absolutely nails all Dumbledore was in the books. He doesn’t appear on screen very often, yet he always makes an impression.

Additionally, Johnny Depp is terrific as the titular bad guy Gellert Grindelwald. Depp was able to create a distinct persona who, through both words and deeds, will terrify you to the core and serve as the ideal antagonist for our protagonists in this series. He is the star of every scene he is in, and he always looks fantastic. Although both recurring and new characters gave excellent performances, Eddie, Jude, and Johnny were the winners.

Now, this movie has issues with quantity despite the positive qualities it offers in terms of quality. The story is strong overall, however, there are several passages that may have been trimmed or shortened to improve the flow of the action. You will enjoy these scenes if you are a lover of Potter lore and enjoy hearing about the wizarding world.

Keeping track of and understanding the motivations of all the additional individuals was also challenging. Even while it’s simple to track all the returning characters, Grindelwald, and Dumbledore, some of the more recent additions looked a little out of place and might have been removed altogether. You’ll be stunned by a few of the big twists in this film.

The film undoubtedly feels like a Deathly Hallows part 1, slowing down the plot to concentrate on character development, setting up upcoming events, and giving us a better look at this extraordinary universe. While for some this may be boring, for others it won’t be because the author wants you to spend your time getting to know the creatures and characters before moving on to the next chapter of the narrative.

Overall, a really fantastic film with outstanding performances and stunning cinematography that you should definitely see.
